Television sets
Today’s TVs are complex devices with sophisticated software stacks. These TVs are connected to many different video distribution networks (terrestrial, cable, satellite, and Internet) and input devices (set-top boxes and media players). So to effectively reach and deliver software updates to TVs, UpdateLogic offers UpdateTV – Terrestrial, UpdateTV – Cable, UpdateTV – Internet and even UpdateTV – Mail.
Tru2way devices
Based on the standards and technology put forth by CableLabs previously called OCAP, cable operators and device manufacturers have launched a new initiative for digital cable services delivered over the cable video network. These initiatives demand complicated software on the tru2way receiving device. To update tru2way devices, UpdateLogic utilizes UpdateTV – Cable and UpdateTV – Internet.
Mobile/Handheld TVs
The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and the Open Mobile Video Coalition (OMVC) have recently created a new standard for broadcasters to implement in order to improve transmissions of over-the-air signals to non-stationary televisions sets (aka mobile and handheld TVs). These new M/H devices, as they are currently called, can be serviced by UpdateLogic through UpdateTV – Terrestrial. |

Set-top boxes
Whether for cable or satellite networks or for the new IP-based networks, set-top boxes are common devices for television signal processing. These boxes have substantial software stacks which need to be regularly supported by the network operators. UpdateLogic’s technology and processes can be utilized by network operators to service and remotely maintain set-top boxes.
Blu-ray players
First it was Beta-max, then VHS, then DVD. And now the next generation of programming content recorded for personal playback is being distributed in a relatively new specification adopted by the industry called Blu-ray. Among other things, Blu-ray players require routine firmware updates for compatibility reasons, and UpdateLogic can send out updates to these players using UpdateTV – Internet and UpdateTV – Mail.
Hospitality
Hotel rooms, restaurants, airports, cruise ship cabins, and more and more airplane seats have television devices. These TV sets do more than just change channels – they offer video on demand services, food ordering, billing information, pay per play games, and more. In order to continue to function with the content (video and data) distributed by the hotel, ship, or airplane video system, the TV firmware has to be configured and often times updated.
