netRetrieve can be utilized by manufacturers to collect certain operational information from the device such as hardware and software failure analysis data as well as content services data utilized to assist in the calculation of revenue sharing.  Without infringing on consumer privacy regulations, netRetrieve collects the data from the device and uploads it to secure file servers inside the UpdateLogic Network Operations Center for controlled access by the device manufacturer for research and tracking purposes.

The secure two-way communication path also provides a very efficient and effective way to request and receive product registration data from the consumer, including demographic and other information as deemed valuable by the manufacturer.

Utilizing netRetrieve in conjunction with other netReady services (netUpdate and netProvision), manufacturers can enable their TVs to become a robust “media services platform” and extend the capability of the device, actively manage third party content services, retain ownership of the consumer relationship, and increase post-sale revenue.
