Kurt Thielen - Chief Executive Officer

Kurt Thielen is a seasoned veteran in the technology industry with 25 years of product development and executive leadership experience. His industry experience includes Consumer Electronics, Data Communications, Telecommunications and Storage Networking.

Prior to joining UpdateLogic, Kurt Thielen was the VP of Engineering at Polaroid Corporation. At Polaroid, he was responsible for Engineering and Product Development. Kurt joined Polaroid after the sale of SoniqCast to Petters Group Worldwide, the holding company which owns Polaroid.

In 2001, Kurt founded SoniqCast, a digital audio and video technology company which designed, developed and manufactured portable wireless digital audio and video products. At SoniqCast, Kurt was the President and Chief Operating Officer and was responsible for all day to day operations. In December of 2006, after the sale of Soniqcast to Petters Group Worldwide and the introduction of the SoniqCast products and technology into Polaroid, Kurt and his team joined Polaroid.

Prior to running Thielen Consulting, Kurt was a Director of Product Development at Tellabs. At Tellabs, Kurt managed a multi-million dollar research and development organization and was responsible for product development of Tellabs’ flagship digital cross connect product, the Titan 6500.

Kurt’s previous roles were in management and engineering at companies including StorageTek, Network Systems and AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Steve Hastings - Founder and Vice President of Engineering

Steve leads the entire software development team at UpdateLogic. Steve is a member of the Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC), as well as other organizations related to the DTV industry within the U.S. Steve was very active in the creation of a software download specification for the ATSC T3/S13.

During most of 2003, Steve was an executive consultant and engineering manager for Vibren Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation. Vibren provided consulting services to the consumer electronic and personal computer industries.

Prior to Vibren, Steve was a founding partner and Vice President of Engineering at Rachis Corporation, which provided engineering services and software products to the cable and television markets from 1997 through 2002. Steve and several members of his fifty person team created several patents at Rachis, including a mechanism for sending software updates to set-top boxes for peripheral devices. In December of 2002, Rachis was acquired by Vibren Technologies.

From 1992 through 1997, Steve was the Vice President of Engineering at SystemSoft Corporation (IPO 1994) where, in his last role, he managed the thirty-person development team which created patented software technology called SystemWizard, which allowed a personal computer to diagnose and solve configuration issues by using intelligence within a routinely updated problem database.

Before SystemSoft, Steve worked at Prime Computer.

Mr. Hastings holds a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University.

Scott Pirdy - Founder and Vice President of Operations

Scott controls the operations at UpdateLogic and is responsible for the strategic relationship with network partners, as well as the construction and operation of the datacast network. Scott is a member of the Society of Cable and Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE).

Before joining UpdateLogic, Scott was a member of the management team and held the position of Vice President of Professional Services at Vibren Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, from 2002 through 2003. In this role, Scott was responsible for all development and deployment efforts of the forty person engineering team, consisting of embedded, system-level, application software developers, as well as several IT network engineers.

Prior to Vibren, he was CTO and Vice President of Engineering at Internet Appliance Network (IAN) from 1999 through 2001, where he lead a diverse team of fifty engineers and support personnel to develop, deploy, and support internet appliance solutions for consumers. In his role at IAN, Scott provided a crucial asset to enable the raising of $20 Million in additional funding.

Scott has successfully built and managed engineering teams responsible for product design and delivery for nearly twenty years in large corporations including National Semiconductor and Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC). Scott possesses four patents for contributions made to DEC's portable computing organization.

Mr. Pirdy holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology.

Patrick Sansonetti - Founder and Vice President of Business Development

Patrick manages all sales, marketing, and business development efforts for UpdateLogic.

Prior to UpdateLogic, Patrick was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Vibren Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of NEC Corporation, which provides consulting services to the consumer electronics and personal computer industries. Patrick joined Vibren management team in 2002, when Vibren acquired Rachis Corporation. Initiatives started and managed by Patrick and his team included partnerships with Microsoft, Macromedia, Phoenix, ATI, HP, and NEC, all leading to a substantial increase in sales and net worth for the company.

As COO and Vice President of Business Development at Rachis, a ground-floor company started by Patrick and others in 1997, Patrick held high-level relationships with television, cable and satellite companies, such as Motorola, Scientific-Atlanta, Matsushita (Panasonic), Thomson, Broadcom, ATI, Rogers, Charter, Sony, and Microsoft. Patrick was also responsible for raising the Angel, Series A and Series B financing.

Patrick initially gained international sales, marketing, and product development expertise at SystemSoft Corporation (IPO 1994), where he worked from 1993 through 1997. At SystemSoft, Patrick participated in the sales and marketing of patented software technology called SystemWizard which allowed a PC to diagnose and solve configuration issues. Micron, AST, Packard Bell and HP all licensed the product.

Mr. Sansonetti holds a B.A. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the College of the Holy Cross.
