The sophistication in today's consumer electronics has increased significantly over the last few years resulting in added development and support costs. In particular, now that consumer electronic devices are being connected to the Internet, many more features, services, and capabilities exist inside the device. Digital home devices such as TVs, Blu-ray disc players, gaming consoles, tablets, and set-top boxes now often include streaming media content services and "app stores" which have had a dramatic effect on the cost to manufacture and support CE devices.

 

The added sophistication of CE devices shows a clear need to be able to provide effective low cost service and support to these devices – minimizing product returns and improving customer service. NetReady™ includes three main components:

  1. The NetReady Device Agent which is integrated into the device firmware. The Device Agent is pre-integrated into most of the leading SoC chipsets.
  2. A secure Database of information retrieved from the devices and stored on UpdateLogic servers in the cloud.
  3. A web-based System Interface which provides complete access to all the NetReady-enabled devices.
